Sutton Coldfield Tennis Club prides itself on being able to offer its members and guests a variety of court surfaces to play on. In total we have 4 different surfaces.
The club has Four Indoor Courts. (2 under a Bubble from October to April)
Courts 1 and 2.
Indoors and Greenset laid on a rubber mat for extra comfort. Greenset is commonly used both on the ATP and WTA tours worldwide.
Playing characteristics are a medium to fast pace with a medium height bounce.
Available to book by the half-hour on the ‘Clubspark Booker’ App or by block booking a 17 or 18 week period, January – April, May – August or September – December.
Block booking costs are as follows for current session, 30th April to 26th August 2018.

Courts 8a & 8b available October to April
This is a fantastic addition to the clubs facilities and we want all members to benefit from what has been a huge investment. We want to give as many of you as possible a chance to experience the new court surface and the bubble and enjoy the experience!
Entry to the bubble courts will only be possible if you have booked a court online via Clubspark App, instructions are given below. Once you are registered you will be able to book a bubble or indoor court over your smartphone, tablet or on the terminal in the entrance lobby.
The main points to note are as follows:-
- The courts will only be available for members use.
- No block booking will be permitted except for junior program squads – term time weekdays (4.00 to 6.00) and Saturday morning (9.00 to 12.00).
- Bookings can be made up to two weeks in advance with refunds given if cancellations are made 3 days or more before.
- Daytime sessions are in multiples of half an hour.
- Priority arrangement for club play on Men’s and Ladies night bookable by the ‘organiser’ at a 20% discount to the advance booking rate.
How to get the Clubspark APP.
- Click on the App store icon on your phone/tablet and search for Clubspark.
- Click on GET, INSTALL, OPEN, ‘Sign-up’, sign in by email.
- Enter your email address and select a memorable password.
- Click NEXT.

You can then make bookings at LTA registered venues. When you make a booking you will need to pay with a debit/credit card.
Courts 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9
DOE Olympus. This surface is recognised as the best synthetic carpet court available and is the chosen surface of Tim Henman for the court at his home. The surface is laid and sand is in filled to keep the carpet ballast and then a rubber granule is spread on the top to improve playing characteristics. Unlike regular carpet courts the sand is never visible therefore you don’t get the slippyness that most sand filled courts have. The playing speed is medium to fast depending on the weather and with a medium to low bounce. This surface is playable all year round. Also 4 of the 5 of these courts are floodlit
Courts 10, 11 and 12
Tarmac macadam surface. This surface is a hard medium to high bouncing court with a medium to slow speed. One of the main advantages of this surface is that it does not hold water like the carpet courts do, therefore the balls don’t become as heavy in wet conditions. One of the down sides of this surface is that it can be slippy in the wet. These courts are floodlit.
Padel Court Information.
The court can be used until 9pm each evening. The token meter is located adjacent to the steps up to the court and tokens can be purchased from the bar. The court is Floodlit.
The cost is £4.00 for half an hour and includes bats and balls.

We will shortly be introducing a Padel ladder to encourage some competition.
The gym was set up in 2002 to cater for tennis members who either wanted to increase their general fitness level or (like many of us) were recovering from minor injuries.
It was later expanded to accommodate local members of the public. The gym offers members a complete range of resistance and cardiovascular equipment.
The gym is accessed by a swipe card and is available all week at any time between 7.00am in the morning and 10.30pm in the evening.
Members must clear the changing rooms by 11.00pm.
Membership allows full use of the gym and you are also a Social member of the Tennis Club and can use all of the lounge and bar facilities.
The objective of The Club is the promotion and enjoyment of the game of tennis. However, this would not be possible without a thriving social scene off court to bring the members together to create a true “club” atmosphere.
The Club has a lounge bar which is open during the following times :-
- Monday to Friday 6pm to 11pm
- Saturday 12 noon to 11pm
- Sunday 12 noon to 10.30pm
All classes of members are permitted to use the bar facilities with the overriding proviso that junior members should not drink or attempt to buy alcohol and should not be in the bar after 9pm unless they are accompanied by a parent.
There are several televisions in the bar and major sporting events are screened.
There is a regular Thursday evening quiz where you can bring your own team or merely turn up and join in with some other members.
A few times each year there is live entertainment on a Saturday and Sunday night where members and their guests are welcome to come and enjoy themselves.
The function room shown above is available for hire to members & non-members at a cost of £100. A deposit of £100 is required on booking. This will be refunded once the premises have been inspected & found to have been left clean & tidy.
Signed Terms & Conditions, together with the deposit must be received by the Club to confirm your booking. The hire fee is payable a minimum of 3 weeks prior to your event.
